Well, I´m in Madrid, back at the internet cafe of my dreams, sitting out the first crap weather we´ve had on the last night that I´m here.

In fact, this little bit of rain is kinda nice... it reminds me that Madrid isn´t all sunshine and roses, and really, when all is said and done, moving here wouldn´t greatly improve my life.

Le sigh.

Actually, probably the only thing moving here would do is put a great big dent in my wallet, as I seem to spend money like it´s going out of style. Actually part of this is that Dorsa is determined that a) I need colour in my wardrobe, and black is NOT a colour; b) I need to buy trousers that actually fit me; and c) I am in desperate need of shoes.

A and b seem to have been almost entirely taken care of, whereas situation c is still a bit of a catastrophe. I bought shoes. I really did. And then I returned them because they were entirely the wrong size.

But for the two days that I owned them, I loved them, and cherished them, and kissed them and hugged them and named them George.

Lest you think I´ve done nothing but shop in the time that I´ve been here, I will remind you that not only did I go to two museums, but I also went to the Palacio Real, hung out with the bear and the strawberry tree at Puerto del Sol, went to the Festival of San Isidro, caught several processions, checked out the Parque del Buen Retiro, and generally spent a lot of time wandering the streets of this fine city.

Granted, some window shopping was involved in all of these ventures, but let me also remind you that I´ve been here before. I played tourist. I took day trips. I spent hours in museums. I even went to a flamenco show. So, yeah, if I want to spend my time dicking around, and blowing my money on dumb things, then that´s my damn business.

Not that I´m defensive or anything.
